In East Africa, the needs are great and the jobs are few.  Yet, the people have a great work ethic and want a job that is both meaningful and sustainable.  Traditional mission and charity organizations actually hurt more than they help because they create a sense of dependency.  That is, after the mission team leaves or the money runs out, the East African people suffer once again.  By contrast, the Seven Loaves Project offers training as well as job creation and sustainability for the people of Rwanda.  Best of all, the bread tastes pretty darn good!

Single, married, divorced, or somewhere in between, everyone has a love language.  Dr. Gary Chapman has outlined five primary love languages – acts of service, gifts, physical touch, words of affirmation, and spending quality time.   One BIG problem with understanding Dr. Chapman’s work is this: people think that their love language is what they do for others.  For example, if I like giving things TO OTHERS (and I do), that doesn’t mean my love language is gift giving.  Instead, a person’s love language is something done TO THEM that makes them feel loved.  For example, if someone spends quality time with me, I feel loved (and I do).  Finally, don’t expect others to automatically know your love language.  So, tell them today!  Happy Valentine’s Day.   [P.S. Pastor Thomas and Zach

The Spirit of God is moving in Kenya!  Last September, we trained nearly 40 pastors on the basics of biblical counseling.  When we returned last week for a “refresher” course, the pastors were so far advanced that we were unable to utilize the planned materials.  Instead, we responded to their inquiries and needs – all without the benefit of notes, a manual, or even modern technology.  Our sole visual aid was a small (2×3 feet) menu chalkboard and a few pieces of broken chalk.
